Thankful Thursday: Good News Edition

October 6, 2011

It seems like every time we turn on the TV or open the newspaper, it’s more bad news. Steve Jobs’ death. A missing baby. The Michael Jackson media circus. The 99 percent movement.

How about some good news for a change? There has to be something out there to be thankful for and happy about.

  • University of Maryland (my alma mater) students win last week’s Solar Decathalon
  • Dog who saved owner on 9/11 named American Hero Dog
  • Despite down economy, US auto sales rose 10% last month
  • Gabrielle Giffords returning to Washington today, nearly 10 months after being shot in the head
  • Georgia man starts a nonprofit food bank… for pets.
  • An upcoming White House state dinner for Korea = Michelle Obama in a hanbok? Hopefully!
  • Famine relief efforts are actually saving lives in East Africa

What good news have you heard lately? Do you have good news of your own to share? I’ll add it to the list!

Woo-hoo! I didn’t know you were a Terp!! Me too. Well, for grad school and my full-time employment, anyway.

Those are all great things. I think one thing that I’m realizing is with this whole “Occupy Wall Street” movement, listening to some of the people’s stories who are involved, I have it pretty darn good. DC is a really fun place to live! I might want to remember that the next time I complain about traffic. 😉
