Thankful Thursday

September 29, 2011

In case you missed this yesterday, I am partnering with Hudson Restaurant & Lounge for a Take a Bite out of Breast Cancer event Saturday night. Eat dinner at at Hudson Restaurant Saturday night and the restaurant will donate 35% of the proceeds toward breast cancer awareness and research. Delicious food for a great cause!

I’m definitely thankful to help promote this fundraising evening. Just 7% of breast cancer cases occur in women under 40 years old but when it does, organizations like Pink Jams! help out those young women and men. Breast cancer thankfully doesn’t run in my family, but I know it can strike anyone, anywhere, so it’s important to be aware and do what we can to stop this killer.

It’s pretty hard to top being thankful for your health, but here are a few less life-and-death moments of gratefulness:

  • Realizing it’s a small world after all when my friend Canadian Joyce, whom I met in Korea, visited Washington (by way of Boston, where she now lives).
  • Pumpkins on doorsteps — fall is here!
  • Speaking of which, mmmmm squash…
  • Baking amazing rosemary bread
  • Random street musicians that cheer up your afternoon
  • Catching up on “Glee” (meh so far) and “Modern Family” (always funny)
  • Random, but cool, Klout perks – “30 Rock” on DVD and Fit Frappe mix? Why not?!

What are you thankful for this week? And do you use Klout? <– I find it fascinating!

I’m thankful for being able to drive to and from university in my car, and leave right away after or class or anytime I want to for that matter…freedom is great!
