Thankful Thursday

September 1, 2011

Let’s just go ahead and say it: It’s a three-day weekend! Or, if you’re me, a four-day weekend (kinda). See, I work on Sundays so my “weekend” is usually Friday-Saturday. This weekend, I’m still working Sunday but then get Labor Day off along with everyone else.

Today is also the first day of September and while spring is lovely and summer has some good parts, I’m all about fall. Bring on crunchy leaves, pumpkin everything, scarves & sweaters, and the smell of chimney smoke.

It’s a busy morning so let’s jump right into what I’m thankful for this week:

  • No damage from last week’s ‘hurriquake’
  • Healthy Living Summit cereal swag — between Quaker Oat Squares and Erewhon Strawberry Crisp, I’m in cereal heaven. Nine months of the year, it’s all about oatmeal but come summer, breakfast is cereal+yogurt+fruit+PB bowls every single day.
  • Fun dinner dates with friends — small plates at Zengo was a highlight
  • Affordable group dinners with group-buying sites. We coordinated to buy this deal for a $15 three-course meal at Local 16, a perfect (cheap) September get-together.
  • The return of pumpkin spice lattes to coffee shops
  • Making it to the gym before work twice this week. Baby steps!
  • Thriving basil and rosemary on the back steps
  • A road trip this weekend; an out-of-town wedding next

What are you thankful for this week?
