Thankful Thursday

August 4, 2011

Big accomplishment that I’m really proud of: making it to the gym two mornings this week. It’s been hard to find the time to go in the evenings since I moved to the city — there’s always something to do, somewhere to visit or episodes of No Reservations at El Bulli to watch with friends.

The waking up and getting out the door is the hard part. Once I’m outside, the fresh air instantly wakes me up and energizes me, which I need to remember when crawling out of bed an hour earlier than normal is hard. (I like coming home afterward to shower and change, rather than do that at the gym, so it’s an hour to walk to the gym, elliptical while watching the news and walk home.)

Will my streak end after two days? Will morning gymming become my new thing? Stay tuned…!

Last week, I said I’d be thankful if the debt crisis ended so things could calm down at work. Prayers answered! So far, August has been nice and slow — such a welcome change from July — and that will likely continue. DC is usually dead in August as Congress goes on vacation and the city’s swampy roots make themselves known.

Other things I’m thankful for this week:

  • A fun road trip to Jamestown — thanks for all of your suggestions on where to visit next!
  • Finding Style of Kate — Kate Middleton’s wardrobe on a budget! (No, I don’t deny that I want to steal her style. Yes, I wish this website had updated since January.)
  • On that note: J.Crew Fall 2011. Best. Season. Ever.
  • Finding free stuff to do in the city: gallery openings, outdoor concerts and movies, yoga and more.
  • Discovering a delicious new vegetable
  • Travel planning with two of my oldest friends — one from pre-school, the other, 8th grade. Destination: China.
  • Speaking of oldest friends, one of my best friends from high school, Mary Kate, got engaged this week. She’s the first one from our high school group to walk down the aisle and all I can say is: Congratulations!

Oh, the college years… 😉

What are you thankful for this week? Do you prefer AM or PM workouts?

Wow the new JCrew styles are a little crazy- but I like them!

A few years ago my first high school friend got engaged- within 2 weeks, 2 others were engaged. It was one crazy year of weddings after another after that!

I’m actually going with Tim and Brittany — Teddy is living there now so it’s perfect timing!

It’s kinda nutty when you blog about people I know! 🙂 I saw Brittany tweet about the trip this morning… so fun! I don’t talk to anyone from high school anymore (well… I stalk you here! haha), we definitely all went our separate ways (or rather, I moved far away…), but facebook is always full of people getting married/having babies! When did we get older than 16?

J Crew is looking mighty hipster-chic.

Congrats to MaryKate!! How cute are they, though?? 🙂
