Snack Attack

December 29, 2010

Good morning, friends! Can you believe it’s Hump Day already? This week is flying by… of course, I was off work Monday and have the next two days off, so maybe that’s why. 😉

Yesterday and today, however, I’m at work like a big girl. Yes, I may be wear jeggings — we decided last night at #fitblog that wearing jeggings basically allows you to get away with wearing sweats to work — but I’ll be at work bright-eyed and ready to uncover the truth about Aretha Franklin’s rumored death or Lily Allen’s engagement.

Love my job.

While I’m loving my job and writing up a storm, blogging both for work and for my personal life, I get really snack-y. Depending on the time of day, I’m either ready to raid the cabinets bear-style

or eat something small. ‘Tis the season for festive popcorn tubs, right?

The idea of a popcorn tub grosses me out — so many hands grabbing handfuls of butter-coated corn! — but it tastes too good to resist. Don’t try to resist the lure of caramel corn.

Many times, I end up with a second (er, third) cup of coffee mid-afternoon. Bad habit? Sure, but it could be worse. I could be reaching for my third hit of cocaine in the afternoon. Just sayin’…

Oh, go on, you’re still tired.

Well, if you insist.

Lately I’ve been keeping a lot of bars at my desk to ward off the 3pm munchies and give a little sugar boost. Clif Bar & Company sent me one of its Crunch granola bars to try.

It looks a lot like the Nature Valley granola bars but tastes 10x better.

Nothing fake-tasting, not too sugary-sweet and not nearly as messy to eat. If you’ve ever eaten a Nature Valley granola bar, you know what I’m talking about. It’s impossible not to be covered in little flakes of granola by the end.

Time for me to finish up this cup of coffee — my first, I promise! — and hit the road. We’re taking a lunch field trip to get Indian food today and my belly couldn’t be happier. 😀

What’s your go-to snack at work? Do you snack between meals?

Right now I’m in transition with jobs, so I’ll snack on yogurt with granola or some fruit and a piece of chocolate or something. But when I was regularly going to work, I often brought a granola bar and piece of fruit.

I usually eat an afternoon snack, unless I’ve had a particularly filling lunch.

I’m just thinking about blogging on healthy living and such.. yours is such an inspiration! By the way, the white chocolate version of the Clif crunch bars are so decadently delicious too!

Aw, thanks, you’re too sweet! And am I totally behind? I thought these Crunch bars were new? Man, I’ve been missing out! 🙂

Yes! haha I ❤ jeggings! I hope they never go out of fashion. Where did you get yours from? Mine are from Abercrombie and Fitch. I love them but I have my bones to pick w A&F ethically so I'd prefer to shop somewhere else!

Mine are from Ann Taylor Loft, randomly. 50% off everything in store and I fell in love.

I try to keep it healthy when I snack at work (not so easy when I’m working from home and have access to my entire kitchen!), so I tend to go with regular old almonds, or maybe a piece of fruit.

Ikeep a box of Triscuits and Peanut Butter in my desk drawer. I have a snack at about 9:30 every day which is either my prep or my study hall. I’m always starving after teaching my first class, even though I eat breakfast everyday.

Water is my go-to ‘snack’ at work. At my job, I am constantly talking with kids, listening to kids, or teaching lessons so I don’t have an opportunity to snack on anything. ‘Snacking’ on water all day usually results in me having a the appetite of a bear after work which is when I either eat dinner or go for chips and salsa.
