What’s Been Keeping Me Busy

November 30, 2010

Besides the fact that it’s Tuesday and Tuesdays are always better than Mondays — mostly because there’s ‘Glee’ to look forward to πŸ˜‰ — today is also a good day because we’re launching the major project that has dominated the last few months at work.

Year End Hot Searches was a huge project but also so much fun! This yearly site — but my first year working on it — looks at the top search trends from the past year, giving a list that ranges from bedbugs and the BP oil spill to Betty White. πŸ˜€

Personally, I think that any website that includes both ‘Pants on the Ground’ and lupus among its top terms deserves a look! It’s great to see all this hard work pay off and an awesome site be born. πŸ˜€

This was definitely my biggest undertaking of the year but also a blast to work on and I was excited to see it launch in the wee hours of this morning. Let’s just say that this blogger is very appreciative of her coffee this morning — I even reached for the fully-caf instead of decaf! For a girl who normally gets into bed with a book at 10:00 pm and has lights-out by 10:30, last night was way out of the norm.

In a good way. πŸ˜€

I hope you’ll check out the site and let me know what you think. Working on YEHS has been at least part of the reason that I barely blog some days or weeks — after all, I spend all day at work blogging so sometimes it’s hard to face my computer again at 7:00 pm.

Now, though, I’m fully back in action and that means… back to cooking! Yes, I’m looking forward to getting back on track after an overly-indulgent holiday weekend and actually finding time to make delicious dinners in the kitchen.

Doing a monthly challenge was fun in September, when I pledged to eat a different dinner every night, so I want to find another challenge for December.

Have you ever done a blogging challenge? Do you have one to suggest or recommend? I’d love to hear your thoughts and find something creative to participate in — but we all know that Christmas is excluded from any challenge rules. πŸ˜‰

Don’t forget to enter my CSN Stores gift certificate giveaway — it ends tomorrow!

    Cool site!

I have to say, I’m a bit disappointed in the quality of movies making the hottest 10 list (not at all a critique of the site – just of Americans’ taste in movies), and if the trends list is any indication, I’m a seriously untrendy person (I’ve never even heard of some – or most – of those things!).

Truth: I’ve only seen one of the movies on the list. I reached out to a lot of coworkers for help with that section! πŸ˜‰

The lists themselves are pulled from actual search data, just so you don’t think I have absolutely terrible taste. πŸ˜€

Yeah, I figured you had no control over what movies are showing up on there! I’ve actually seen five of the ten (Toy Story, Shutter Island, Inception, SATC 2, and Iron Man), and some of them were good, but there were so many better movies out this year! (Hello, my name is Abby, and I’m a cinephile…)

Oh, and thanks for the feedback! Always appreciated!

You have some fantastic goals! I’m definitely going to incorporate some of those into the daily routine!

Humm challenges are fun! I will let you know if I come up with any ideas! Are you going to be doing the cookie swap?
