Rain will make the flowers grow

November 16, 2010

After a fascinating day of work — no, seriously, I spent the entire day reading and writing about Prince William and Kate Middleton’s engagement — it was that kind of night.

Rain, rain, rain, rain, rain.

Traffic, traffic, traffic, traffic, traffic.

Slow, slow, slow, slow, slow.

😦

Naturally, the first thing I did upon walking in the front door was throw together another batch of pumpkin chocolate chip muffins. Comfort food was more than necessary. πŸ˜€

(Confession: The first first thing I did was actually run to the bathroom. Don’t ever get in the car for a potentially long commute home without a bathroom stop. πŸ˜‰ )

As depressing and dark as the rain is, I need to remember that something beautiful will come out of it.

I couldn’t believe a few roses in peak bloom were hanging on at Dumbarton Oaks this weekend. Strong souls, to be sure!

I loved hearing some of your design inspirations this morning — keep ’em coming. It’s been fun flipping through different magazines, catalogs and websites to get new ideas. There probably won’t be too many new projects or purchases until my next move — we’re pretty full up with furniture here — but I love dreaming about the future regardless. πŸ˜€

What is your favorite kind of flower? There’s something so happy about Gerber daisies. πŸ˜€
