Banana does it betta

November 16, 2010

I am enjoying the best bowl of oats ever right now.

For the past couple of months, apples and pears have been my oats mix-in of choice. The fruit basket is overflowing thanks to the CSA and, as much as possible, I’m trying to eat locally and seasonally.

Bananas are neither local nor seasonal but they make a bowl of oats 10x better. I forgot that one frozen little ‘naner had been hibernating in the freezer for a couple of months, just waiting for the chance to become banana ice cream.

As I pulled out leftover chili to bring for today’s lunch, I noticed the banana in Tupperware. I’m happy to report that even after multiple months in an icy cave, bananas still taste awesome in oats. It takes oats from a mediocre yet warming breakfast to a sweet morning treat.

Also: pumpkin pie spice. Yea, I’m pretty happy right now. 😉

Also making me happy are these cute new bowls from Anthropologie.

Before walking through the secret garden in Georgetown Sunday, I popped into Anthro just to see what was new. While the clothes are way out of my price range, the home products — everything from bed linens and towels to dishes and drawer pulls — are very reasonably priced.

These bowls — which are deep enough to be perfect for soup or oats — were half-off half-off, which ended up being $3.95 for each. Awesome! 😀

I love just strolling through Anthro and envisioning moving into one of the display areas.

If anyone wants to help me decorate my next apartment, just look to Anthropologie for inspiration. If only the quilt I fell in love with wasn’t almost $500… 😦

Which store designs inspire you? I love Anthro, of course, but also wouldn’t mind if IKEA just stepped in and handed me pre-made rooms. (To which I would then add personal touches like Mayan masks, Korean tea cups, Thai wall hangings and Parisian pillows. 😉 )

Lauren updated our photo blog — check out our ‘berry’ beautiful pictures. 😀

Yeah, banana is always a must in my oats– I can taste a huge difference when it’s not there!!!

Sigh. I would live in Anthropologie if they would let me.

I’ve been using pumpkin pie spice in literally everything. So hot right now.

Also, I, too, have a love affair with Anthropologie. But I’m doomed to always window shop there. Unless something majorly goes on sale. I don’t own a single thing from that place. :-\

Definitely check out the sale section. There are some awesome bargains in the online store, too.
